Using Civil Support Teams (CSTs) For Seismic Event Responses

9 a.m. to Noon - U.S. Army CBRN School
LTC Christian Van Alstyne, a former CST Commander, from the Army CBRN School, will discuss the identification and marking of disaster displaced hazards for removal following Hurricane Katrina, second and third order effects of disasters as seen in Hurricane Katrina, and the employment of join task forces of military, federal, DOT and local organizations in a disaster environment.

1 p.m. to 4 p.m. - Missouri National Guard's WMD CST
Exploratory session on how Civil Support Teams (CST) can support the emergency response community during a seismic event. The Missouri National Guard's 7th Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) CST will discuss specific CST capabilities including reconnaissance, communications, laboratory, and Common Operating Picture (COP)/Situational Awareness development. Discussion will include issues with expansion from single CST response to multiple-CST support (e.g.,command and control, mission assignment, COP development, response timelines, etc). Final portion of the class will provide a live demonstration of specific communications capabilities including live "hot zone" video, VTC, and Voice over Internet Protocol (VOIP) capabilities.
